Game Review: DragonSoul

Game Review: DragonSoul

Game Platform: Android-Capable Tablet & Smart Phones
Where to get the game: Google Play Store, Amazon Games, AppStore

Game Description: A turn-based team fighting RPG with online Multiplayer capabilities.

+ Each player can unlock new heroes through various methods such as shops, campaign maps, rewards, and more.

Newest Changes:
Update 1.3 - Added new heroes; Frost Giant, Spikey Dragon, Dark Horse, and Pixie Queen.

Update 2.0 - Added heroes: Orc Monk, Rabid Dragon, and Dwarven Archer.
+Level cap increased to 75, as well as added campaign chapters up to chapter 12 for most servers.

Recent Update Errors:
- There was a major error in which developers tried to 'balance' player's power by changing the mechanics and thus greatly reducing everyone's power across the servers. This caused a bit of panic and upset many players that worked hard to get their team as powerful as it was before this balance was implemented. Thankfully this was given a bit of a fix in an emergency maintenance held shortly after 2.0's release.

- Other errors included enchanted items not keeping their enchantments, and some issues with the Guild chat.

Game Pros & Cons:

Pros:
  • Each team may have up to 5 heroes at a time
  • Heroes have categories; Tank, Damage, Support, and Control
  • Use gear to make heroes stronger*
  • Enchant gear for even more power to your heroes
  • Easily upgrade hero skills with gold
  • Swap heroes at will to create the very best team
  • Various shops for specific items (Fight Shop, Crypt Shop, Etc)
  • Free daily rewards from game functions to aid in unlocking heroes and improving their power as well as your game play experience
  • Guild function for a social game, meet new players and get help by hiring the best heroes for a small fee
  • Fairly easy for Free-to-Play users to earn their heroes in a short amount of time and make them decently strong
Cons:
  • The best heroes are often only obtainable through purchasing credits - as well as enhanced rewards for cash-buyers only, which gives a huge disadvantage to those players who cannot buy credits at all or in large amounts
  • VIP Chat only available for players who purchase enough credits to unlock VIP level 4 or higher which is at least 500 VIP Tickets or 25$ worth of purchased credits
  • Most functions require you to pay a certain amount of game credits to give more of what you need (Ex. Energy, skill points, etc)
  • Main chat rarely regulated, thus allowing users to spam, harass other players, and start fights in front of everyone else - this can discourage new players into thinking the game isn't properly moderated and are more likely to leave and try a better game with a more stable community
  • Weaker heroes are often left in the dust when new, better heroes get released - often they will be 2-3 star heroes and far better than some of the default characters you begin with - this can lead to a huge imbalance on your team, as well as difficulty defeating certain monsters (Ex. Those not damaged by physical attack or magic attack)
  • Many bugs popping up regularly from heroes and the fighting layout, often needs attention - game is still finding a beat
There are many good reasons to play this game, and many reasons to find something better but overall this game is worth playing if you enjoy turn-based fighting games with the ability to create and strengthen your own team.

For those considering purchasing in-game credits but want to keep it easy on their wallets/accounts, I suggest you purchase the monthly VIP special. You get over 100 credits in-game every day you log in for 31 days. You can re-apply this package when it runs out and it only costs around 3$. It also comes with other perks and freebies, so make sure you check it out for full details.

Game Rating:
We give this game a respectful 3.5 out of 5 rating.*

Our reasoning is, the game requires many fixes and attention to details regarding hero strength, once this is maintained the rating will most likely go up.

Give it a try for yourself and tell us what you think!
